The launch of the state of Utah's first private business incubator provided not only the opportunity to hear a progress report from host Grow Utah Ventures, but a unique gathering for networking. Grow Utah Ventures co-sponsors (with Lumin Publishing) a quarterly “Business Ignitor” series to stir the community pot.
The Midas fist? Grow Utah Ventures Chair Alan E. Hall and wife Jeanne Hall express enthusiasm after cutting the ribbon. Like Hall's super-size drive, the scissors used for the ribbon-cutting from the City of Ogden Shakers civic group were large-scale.
Sharing the vision that the best “fund of funds” is the pool of private businesses and investors with the resources to aid young entrepreneurial efforts, Grow Utah Ventures has been a catalyst for energizing and organizing funding. Terry Wall of the LDS Church Foundation and Steve Cloward of Davis County's Applied Technical College share their impressions of Grow Utah's impact as a tool for economic development.
